Knife Cut Noodles
I’ve talked about this a lot already. Knife cut noodles, and this is how I like to eat it. The easy, delicious and lazy way. I cook up the noodles and drain it. I heat up a little bit of oil and add chopped green onions to “pop” it. A real quick fry and then add the noodles back into the pan and add oyster sauce and sriracha, I sometimes add a bit of sweet soy sauce too and that’s it. Toss and serve. It’s like a quick and easy version of indomie (well the flavors of it).
Underwood Ranch Sriracha
Speaking of sriracha, Longs had Underwood Ranch sriracha on sale so I had to try it. You know all the drama with Underwood Ranch right? They used to supply peppers to Huy Fong Foods sriracha but they had a dispute so they no longer supply the peppers for Huy Fong and started making their own to sell. I tried it so you don’t have to. It’s not as good as the original, it’s very vinegary. Too vinegary. No thanks.
Chun Wah Kam Plate | $14.00
one or two choice starch & two choice entrees
Chun Wah Kam still offers up a whopper of a deal for a huge portion. My starches are the ginger chicken fried rice and the Hong Kong Chow Mein (vegetarian). I got the chicken mushroom zucchini stirfry and orange chicken. I would have gotten their veggie stirfry but they didn’t have it today. I am a fan of chicken mushroom zucchini but not of this one. It was a bit salty and the chicken was dry and hard, they either use chicken breast or cooked the heck out of the thigh meat. Sorry to say, Panda’s does that dish better. Their orange chicken is good though and I love their starches!
it’s so hard to get to the chun wah kam on pensacola. You kinda have to know you want to go there because it’s only passing by on the way to ala moana, then cannot buy cuz going to ala moana, hahaha, then unless get choke cars in the parking lot, not sure if they open or not. so hard!
Haha very true. And it’s a pain in the butt to leave the lot too cause that intersection is so crazy busy all the time!
Also they close early! At 4!
haven’t been to chun wah in ages! bummer the sriracha wasn’t like too good
Oh man! You should have checked it out when you were here! Poor Chan is now using underwood sriracha lol
Thanks for the sriracha review. I can save money.
I am also impressed at how much food they put in the plate at Chun Wah Kam. Last time I went the guy said the sweet sour spare ribs are good – and they were (and had choke!). I also had the ginger fried rice with chow fun. That day, the ginger fried rice was mushy – not good. But I am still a fan.
Your knife cut noodle dish sounds wonderful! Where do you get the noodles?
ever since I read about Jennie’s dry nabe, I went looking for the noodles. I found them in the store where Troy’s used to be corner of Kekaulike and S. King… Waikiki/Mauka corner.
DO NOT go to the Vietnamese store on S King across Oahu Market. I found some on a shelf in towards the back and when I picked up a package, it was swarming with roaches on the package and on the shelf!!! Yeeeeech!!!!
Okay, thanks! I’ll also try Laos Market where I buy stuff because they are always nice. Nice counts in my book. I will be on the lookout for roaches but they seem pretty clean.
I was eyeing out the ribs but now know to get it next time! Also! To add, I get the knife cut noodles from hmart!
Good to know about the sriracha.
Yes! Or actually no…
