I have been wanting to try BLT Steak for a long while now.  The reviews on Yelp are glowing so I booked us a table on Christmas Eve.  How was the experience?  Well much like the quality of my pictures, terrible.  It’s really such a shame.  Let me share with you through pictures.

Ribeye Steak – Medium Rare ($46).  Overcooked, tough and expensive.  The first bite was good and it was all downhill from there.  My friend asked for medium well and received like medium rare.  Great right?Chicken Liver Pate with Mini Toasts.  Complimentary – not bad.  It tastes like…chicken liver…lol

Popovers with Butter.  These were horrible too.  The insides of the popover were raw.  Completely doughy, white and smelled raw.  The outer layer was crispy and cooked.  It tasted all right but not great.  Disappointing.I ordered the BLT Mai-tai.  It was okay but it also costs $15.  Common expensive pricing through the night.New York Strip – Medium Well ($47) – my friend had this.  He was also very unhappy.  While this came out medium rare, he mentioned the meat was very tough.  When we’re paying these prices, we expect the meat to be good.  It’s really such a pity.Hash Browns ($12) – Good, not great.Green beans with gremolata and bacon – $12.  It was fine but nothing memorable.We didn’t know which sauce to choose so they gave us a few to try.  This included bernaise, peppercorn, BBQ and chimichurri.  Chimichurri was my favorite.  

All in all, I was very disappointed by the meal.  The service started off okay but once again, the waiter disappears near the end when it’s time for the check.  The parking at the hotel is free valet so you just have to give a tip.  The parking is for 4 hours so that’s pretty good if you want to walk around afterwards.  We were tired after a day of work and wanted to try walking but didn’t make it too far.  This restaurant is like…at the start of the Waikiki.  Do I plan on trying this place again?  Not anytime soon.  There are other steak joints that can deliver over BLT Steak.
