TKG Sauce Packets
Sorry, I’m late to post this. I wasn’t late on the trend but just late to post lol. I was lucky because my cousin actually went to Japan and bought me this whole pack to try before it arrived in Hawaii (and got sold out in like a day). I love TKG rice – I don’t know how they do this. Is the “yolk” part real yolk? How is it shelf stable? I was surprised when they were able to import it here. Have you folks tried it yet?
It looks just like the ketchup and mustard packets Japan made famous years and years ago
Hmmm…
Hmmm…!
Verdict? Ehhh…to me, it doesn’t taste like TKG rice lol. I’m trying to pinpoint what it does taste like but I can’t quite think of it right now. It tastes okay but like I’m not a huge fan. I gave the rest to Chan so he can have quick meals with this. I don’t think I would buy it if I saw it, I rather eat fresh TKG rice!
Hmmm. I don’t know what TKG rice is. What I did buy from Costco (and regret it) is the BIG box of Indo Mie’s Mi Goreng – Indonesian fried noodles. It has 40 packs – AAACK! Way too much for me and I should just buy individual ones from Chinatown. Anybody want some?
TKG = tamago kake gohan! Basically rice mixed with raw egg and shoyu….not a dish I would willingly eat here in Hawaii usually but definitely in Japan! If I eat it here, gotta be with the good local eggs.
Oh man! Indomie is so good but yes a Costco box is so much! Even tho my bros would eat every single one!!
the TKG packets are good for quick meals with the microwave rice bowls but I always put furikake and an over easy fried egg too.
Looks kinda yucky when you first squeeze the packets but I just tell myself that it is soft egg yolk mixed with shoyu, LOL
Oh yum that sounds good! Chan likes to mix it with like soba or somen! He bought a few pockets from Don q when they were back in stock!
I just tried a similar packet that came with the maguro & avo from a market, the egg was oozy and the sauce was like kochujang. I think they must add something to the egg to keep it shelf safe and still oozy
Oooh that sounds so good! Hope they bring that one over here too!!
My family’s reaction was also tepid. Glad I didn’t buy as many packs as I had planned.
Rather go Tori ton and get the fresh thing!!!
I like your tip on Jalna’s site about Lucky Box’s ginger chicken. You know I am a freak about them, but dang, I have to have my hot foods separate from cold and considering the chicken is cold I fear I am too demanding. I love lucky box but kinda far as I hate driving in my old age now.
Glad you did! Should have taken a pic! I don’t blame you for hating driving, the drivers are getting worse and worse!
