This might sound like an exaggeration but I don’t think I’ve been to Hokkaido Ramen Santouka for over a decade. I know for sure I haven’t been there since the pandemic and we’re already 5 years from that. Santouka never went down in quality but when I used to go, they were super super busy. I guess at a certain point, I didn’t feel like it was worth the wait and also tend to visit restaurants I can make online reservations at. Well, I’ve been hankering for some good ramen lately and decided to go on a weekday lunch break and take my chances. There were people dining in the restaurant but we got seated right away!
Toroniku Shio Ramen | $16.80
Toroniku Karamiso Ramen (Small) | $16.30
B Lunch Set (3 pc Gyoza & Salmon Ikura Rice Bowl) | $6.99
I loved that they have a lunch set! And I also love that you can size down or up your ramen bowl – so I downsized my ramen to get the set (yes, I bodied it all). It was SOOO good. The ramen was perfect cooked and seasoned. The gyoza tasted house-made and was grilled perfectly crispy and the rice? Oh the rice, high quality white rice with perfectly seasoned fresh salmon and ikura. It was just a perfect set. I mean, I am sitting here thinking about my next trip already. Gotta drag Chan here lol. So good!
Thanks for the reminder! I remember how good it was. They used to have a card loyalty thing – not sure if still valid. There was a “Hokkaido Ramen” in Kaimuki on 12th Avenue – good cheap combos and good gyoza but they are now replaced with a burger place. Kinda sad.
Oh dang! No royalty card that I saw! Would be nice to have that.
I wonder why Hokkaido ramen closed down, they were such a mainstay before! But people love that burger shop! I love noodles.
Fave!!!
Nice!!! Gotta go on a Wednesday so you can grab andagi too. lol
Nice! The Missus enjoys Santouka so much….the Shio Toroniku, that she insisted visiting the original location in Asahikawa, Hokkaido. And the only real difference we perceived was a mild hint of seafood flavoring.
Oooh thanks for sharing that and now I know that I don’t have to go all the way out there to try lol. Nah if I had the chance, I would try the original too!!
nice! only thought they sold their ramen in mitsuwa marketplace, didn’t know they had a shop
Oh yeah! In fact the shop was in Hawaii before mitsuwa and the mitsuwa location has closed already! Still got the OG Don q location for us.
this is my favorite ramen place too and I don’t even care for ramen much. LOL
Oh yeah? So you hardly go then lol. I plan to go more often!!
Wow I never knew the name, passed by it sooo many times when I go to D. Q. There are , it feels like a gazillion, ramen places now. So glad you and readers recommended this place, gonna try it out now
