Art by Afi

I would like to share some recent pieces I purchased.  I like to call them art because they really are!  My coworker creates ceramic pieces in her free time and she does wonderful work.  Every year when we have our craft fair, she donates them to benefit a scholarship fund.  EVERYONE loves it and buys them.  I truly think she undermines her own skill, every piece is so pretty and creative.  Here are two pieces I bought this year.  And happy end of November everyone!  Can you guys believe it?  Did you guys go Black Friday shopping?  I went and my pants were inside out, I didn’t know until I was driving home.  I’m awesome.

The planter has slits on the bottom to let out excess water.  This one included the cactus!  Yay!

Gift Wrapping

Every year, my friend Kristian overdoes himself wrapping gifts.  And I’m not trying to sound negative by saying overdoes because he is insanely creative and talented at it!  So I can confidently say he is constantly on his game wrapping presents while I am a big mess.  This year, I thought of a cute way of wrapping his present which utilized my high school skills.  Back in high school, I loved created photo collages of my favorite singers/actors and used them as book covers.  I also used it in my old planners – if I ever dig them up one day, I will definitely post it!  So here is what I created:

Veggies!

131125-01Looks awesome yeah?  I made my Udon Salad for an office get-together and let’s be real, I don’t organize my food like this for myself.  All for show.  I still eat udon salad for lunch but it has been whittled down so much.  Like seriously, I just make soba noodles and reconstitute wakame.  Hahaha…that’s not even salad!  Don’t be like me.

Wailana Coffee House – Honolulu, HI

Today is just a quick post of a dinner I recently had at Wailana Coffee House.  I originally felt like a steak but they ran out so I got their Roast Pork dinner.  It’s a pretty good deal because it comes with the all you can eat salad bar!  I like salad so that’s a big plus for me.  Service was not great so I can’t exactly recommend this place but it’ll feed you just fine (lol).

Snow!

131120-01

My cousin sent me a picture of Chicago about a week ago and they have snow already!  Aren’t they so lucky?  🙁  I really liked the weekend we had cold weather.  Now it’s back to the muggy humidity.  Bleh!

First Birthday Party

I went to a First Birthday Party this past weekend at Willows and it was wonderful!  I wanted to share some awesome pictures of how the party was set-up.  Mommy put in a lot of work to create a wonderful experience for her son so I wanted to share the results!  My next post will concentrate on the food we had at Willows.  So you are all warned, this post is full of pictures and mostly of decorations.  🙂   Graphic heavy!

Satisfries

So there was a bit of news when Burger King released their Satisfries.  They apparently spent 10 years researching on how to make like the perfect french fry which is supposed to have lower fat and tastes great.  I was excited mainly because they were serving crinkle fries.  I’ll take crinkle fries over regular fries any day.  So how did they fare?

131117-02Okay I just realized how unappetizing this picture looks – but the fries taste great!  I thought they did a good job!  Unfortunately these satisfries do not automatically come with the meals, they serve the regular fries!  So yeah, you have to pay to upgrade to these babies.

Here’s what got me the most!  I don’t know if you can make it out in the picture but it says that these are for a limited time only.  WHAT??  They spent 10 years to come up with these and they are only going to offer it for a limited time?  I don’t know what to say.  Maybe they are testing the waters – I hope it succeeds cause I thought they tasted great!

Pretz – Okonomiyaki

I wish Pretz would release all their weird flavors here in Hawaii.  Or let me back up, I wish Japan would release all their weird everything here in Hawaii.  I get such a laugh out of some of their products.  Maybe it’s more that I wish Don Quijote would just ship them in!  My coworker gave me a box of these Pretz to try and boy are they interesting.  Okonomiyaki flavor!  So how did they taste?  Surprisingly, a lot like okonomiyaki!  But an aritificial okonomiyaki taste, maybe like how a sauce packet for an instant okonomiyaki would taste like.  Very concentrated flavor.

131113-02Flavors from left to right: Wasabi, Okonomiyaki, Ichigo (Strawberry), Jyagabadaa (Japanese for baked potato!), Mentaiko, and Takoyaki!  Which flavor would you want to taste most?

Cold Weather!

See what happens when I don’t schedule out posts?  I apologize.  Last week was just a cluster of things that happened so I couldn’t update my blog.  I apologize!  I don’t apologize for you having to see portuguese sausage all week long because that’s the best sausage in the world.  Haha…just kidding.  I really am sorry.  How did you folks like the weekend’s weather?  I personally like cold and rainy weather so I LOVED it.  Luckily the rain dried up today so I was able to hang out my laundry.  Three day weekend – I hope everyone had a good one.  I attended an awesome 1st birthday party and like totally cleaned up my place!  I’ve been staring at my old desktop for years and finally sat down and tore that sucker open to grab my hard drive.  It was a struggle but I got it!  Best Buy takes in computers for free recycling, isn’t that great?  So I dropped it off…then I hammered the life out of my hard drive this morning.  This is one crazy post.  I’m going to work on some updates tonight for posting!  For now, please enjoy a picture from Korea.

Happy November!!

I can’t believe it’s November already!  I’m sure by this posting, there will already be crazy Christmas stuff up!  Everyone starts up Christmas stuff like right after Halloween!  I do love autumn and winter a lot.  I wish I lived in the mainland so I could witness the change of the seasons.  I know the Pumpkin Spice Latte has been around for ages but I only got to taste it this season and I am hooked!  I’m not even a fan of Starbucks coffee but the pumpkin spice latte somehow masks how bitter their espresso is.  Hehe…have you tried it?  I really recommend that you do…
