Mixed Plate Friday

Glutinous Sweet Potato Bun | $9.99

Good lord, this was $10? This shows that I go blind shopping because I was waiting for these to come to Hawaii for MONTHS. Saw it on social media and was intrigued because it looks like a mini sweet potato but it’s actually a dessert. So it’s actually a mochi filled with sweet potato. I didn’t want to airfry so I heated it up in the microwave. Tasted okay, the outer layer mochi is a bit salty, maybe to balance with the sweet potato? I wasn’t a fan. And dang I paid $10 for 3!

Sorry, not trying to gloat but just wanted to thank Chan for the beautiful birthday flowers. Glad I got it the Monday after my birthday so I can enjoy it all week!

Chan’s birthday present! Isn’t this keyboard so pretty and dreamy? And he knew I wanted a creamy keyboard and this one is just that. He even got me other key options if I decide I want to change things up. I love it! I keep taking typing tests all day long to hear the keys…

This is an intended brag. I need to get better! Have a great weekend!

I’m lucky if I can type 50 words a minute. physically, types fast but with all my typos, drops considerably!
Beautiful flowers, beautiful keyboard. Chan is so smart/considerate. I see women here get flowers for their birthday on Friday and the leave it over the weekend. Wasteful.
I wonder if those sweet potato rolls would be better in airfryer. You’re tempting me.

Believe me, I didn’t take a screenshot of the less than perfect tests lol. I agree, Chan did so good! Try the sweet potato dessert and let me know what you think!

They also finally got tanghulu in the freezer section but I ain’t paying $20 for that!!!!

  2. Whoa, fast typer!!! I used to love to type with the “old fashioned” typewriters. When I used to work in the Foodland office, we sent out legal letters with carbon between sheets. NO errors allowed, so it was a challenge to type, but I enjoyed it. Probably my favorite thing to do.

    Congrats on a wonderful birthday!

I love the old fashioned typewriters too! Oh my gosh carbon sheets, kids these days will be like what is that? I’m old enough to have dealt with carbon sheets haha

Yay!! Happy Birthday !!! Ooh, Chan is a good guy. I go into a Korean store like Palama and am totally lost. Most of it unknown items.Wondering what is ono because all the pictures make it good.

You’re a super fast typist. My fastest was 70-80 wpm. But then that’s a testing speed, in regular normal situations I go much slower because reading handwriting or listening to dictation is so different. Times spent going what the heck is that word or what did they just say??? Aunty’s recollection brought back memories of typewriter eraser pens, putting thick paper underneath to not smudge the carbon copy when erasing, liquid paper, then correction tape. Having black smudge fingers at end of day. And finally getting different color correction fluid to match the papers, especially NCR (carbonless paper) paper. I had an UH TIM intern once and told her to get carbon paper. I felt like a dinosaur as she had no idea what carbon paper was. She stood there baffled. 🙁

Thank you N! Yes Chan is a good guy! Hmart is super overwhelming too cause I think they have way more than palama. But I like hmart for their produce, I only look for other stuff if I have a recipe in mind that I need ingredients for.

I used to love typing as a kid and even took a typing course where they would cover your hands and I think the screen. I hated that but it must have helped!

Wow back in the old days, you folks really had to be creative with correcting mistakes. Students nowadays haven’t even touched a typewriter so I absolutely feel like a dinosaur.
