Peaceful Place

Are there rules about cemeteries and picture taking?  I certainly hope not.  Sometimes when I visit my mom’s grave, I like to take pictures of the pretty flowers we place for her.  She is buried in such a wonderful spot.  In one direction, you can see lush mountains.  Then you turn around and you have a breathtaking view of the ocean.  Doesn’t that sound nice?  Cemeteries always conjure such scary thoughts but my mom is buried in a very nice place with tons of open air and light.

A few years back, a peacock was around while I visited her.  I’m not sure where it came from but it was beautiful.  I got pictures of that too!  If I can find them, I will share them one day.  Hope everyone is doing well.  Have a great 4th of July everyone!

Happy July!

I had a pretty long weekend – good thing I scheduled my weekend posts early!  Yesterday, I had a morning training for work so it was a bit like losing a day in the weekend.  Today, we headed out to the beach and my gosh – it was insanely busy!  We generally like Magic Island because it’s emptier.  I had to go to Waikiki Beach today and it was very rocky and full of strong waves.  I hope today was busy because it’s the weekend before July 4th?

Anyhow!  I hope everyone had a great weekend.  This is a shot I took at the entrance of Meiji Shrine.  This little critter was hanging in mid-air wanting to say hello!  Sorry if any of you don’t like critters…:)

Happy Birthday J!

Okay so if you know me, you will not be surprised at the age of my brothers.  If you don’t know me and you see the age of my brothers, you will think they are my sons.  It’s complicated.  Well not that complicated but nothing I want to share in detail with the world wide web.  I just wanted to dedicate today’s post to my second brother, Happy Birthday!  I love you and appreciate your caring, sweet and positive nature.  You are always willing to help me no matter what the task is.  Never change.

Japchae Hotteok

Just wanted to share a quick update with one my favorite things from my trip to Korea.  I saw many pictures of the original hotteok which I wasn’t interested in, I’m a fan of savory over sweet.  When we visited Namdaemun, our wonderful guide led us to a very popular hotteok stand which sold AMAZING japchae hotteok.  I am drooling just thinking about it.  They fry it up fresh, stick it in a cup and pour some special sauce over it.  The sauce was like a sweet marinade, looked like the type of marinade you would use for kalbi.  You must try this if you go to Korea!

Hump Day

Isn’t this scene the best?  A window overlooking the beach and the endless water.  This picture was taken in a spa room in Waikiki, I was given a tour of the facilities so no, I was not being pampered!  But it’s all right, I can just stare at this picture and feel relaxed all day.  I hope this little light helps you get over your hump day.  🙂

Baked Spaghetti

Short update for today, I usually line up a few posts at a time so I have been slacking!  Here’s a quick picture of a Baked Spaghetti I did on a Sunday a while back.  I love this Baked Spaghetti recipe and it’s been a big hit to people I serve it to!  It’s gooey and delicious…perfect for that lazy Sunday.  If anyone is interested in the recipe, I’d be more than happy to share it.

Painting

Painting is really therapeutic..

Painting is really therapeutic.  Currently on Oahu, there is only one place you can paint ceramics and it’s at Clay Cafe.  I used to frequent their place in Aina Haina but they have since moved out to Ward Warehouse.  This place can get pretty busy so I do wish we had a few more on island to go to…

Good morning, Good night?

Just wanted to share this cute mug I got from my friend Kristian!  It’s one of those mugs that changes color depending on the temperature of the liquid in it.  These mugs are pretty genius because you can tell just by looking at it if the drink is hot or cold!

Snapshot – Downtown

I used to work in downtown YEARS ago and loved every minute of it.  Downtown can definitely be a pain in the butt – I had to take the bus every single day because there is no parking but I didn’t mind.  The jobs I worked were all part-time and in customer service which for me meant, stress-free work!  Okay maybe not stress-free but I definitely was not in a big office making big business decisions.

Anyhow, I just wanted to share a quick snapshot I got of downtown when I was running errands one day.
