Day 1 in Vegas! We took a red eye flight over to Vegas – did not sleep like at all on the flight. Above was a cool sign at baggage claim! Just a special sign for BTS for their concert! I got a picture of it empty before all the fans swarmed it for selfies. π This was actually right before we headed to pick up my rental car from Avis. That was an awful experience. I booked my car through Costco Travel and chose Avis. I got to the counter and the man was very unkind from the get go. He asked if I wanted to pay for insurance coverage, I said I do not because I have my own car insurance that covers me. Then he spouts out some crap about how they will not work with our insurance if something happens to their car and mentioned that I would have to pay for loss of use. It sounds like a loophole they are trying to push, that if somehow I damaged the car enough that it could not be rented out…I would be charged for basically their loss of revenue from this car while it is in repair or whatever. I was livid. My friend and I kept discussing it back and forth, he mentions that “Hawaii people usually pay for the base coverage which is $28 a day.” That didn’t sit right with me. I knew he was playing me but I didn’t feel good about any of it.
He finally says that I can discuss it further off to the side with my friend and can just go right back to him when I was ready. Fine. So I start frantically calling my car insurance to find out if loss of use is covered. This was too early for my agent to be awake but luckily, they connected me with an agent could review my policy and let me know. No, it was not covered by my insurance. Then I remembered that different credit cards could cover items! After a few frantic calls, I found out my Chase credit card did cover loss of use and and actually covered up to a pretty big amount. Whew. So then I am confident to go back into line, he was no longer there, thank god. I get called over by a nice older woman and guess what, she gives me no such hassle. She was a sweetheart the entire time, I was ready to show her my State Farm insurance card and she just said she just needed the name of the insurance company and that’s it! I really feel like the first person was trying to take advantage of us because we are two Asian women, and when he said Hawaii people tend to get the basic coverage – it just felt wrong. Glad I did my research, just wanted to pass this along to you folks too! Look into this before you travel and rent a car!
First meal of the day? Lunch at Buldogis! My friend was like singing their praises for weeks leading up to the trip so was it a bit overhyped? Maybe just a tad. Don’t get me wrong, the food was good! I love hot dogs. I’m glad to have tried it but don’t know if I need to return. Take a look!
Bulgogi | $11.95
beef bulgogi, asian slaw, bulgogi aioli, green onions, sesame seeds
Gangnam | $11.95
choose roasted or crispy pork belly (+$2.00), pickled cucumbers, gangnam chili sauce, green onions, sesame seeds, nori
Can’t say I could taste a big difference between these two hot dogs – a lot of the same ingredients. But in the end, I would choose the gangnam over the bulgogi. Nice slice of pork belly on top with more sauce. We all split our entrees into thirds to try each dish so I didn’t get a whole hot dog to myself lol.
Pork Belly Sandwich (P.B.L.T.) | $13.95
roasted pork belly, lettuce, tomato, pickled cucumbers, sesame seeds, green onions, spicy korean sauce. served with a pickle spear.
Our friend got this pork belly sandwich instead of a hot dog and I thought this was super good too! I would order this one again. They are big on pork belly in this restaurant lol. None of us got the crispy pork belly though, I think Chan would have if he was here with me!
Tater Tots (Large) | $8.95
Not much to report on this. They fried it up perfectly though!
Spam Musubi Rating:

That dude at the counter was terrible! Did you get his name? When folks here start acting like that; I make sure to look at their name tag and go “ok, xxxxx” or ask them their name and quite often things will change. He should be reported! Good looking hot dogs though!
