Roast Duck Kitchen – Aiea, HI

Chan had an appointment in Aiea which gave me the great excuse to check out Roast Duck Kitchen. I haven’t been here in like over a decade so I wanted to check them out and see if they are still worth the hype! Get ready for a lot of pictures because I ordered basically one of everything to try. Hey, this is research for you folks okay? No worries, we didn’t eat this all in one go.

Ginger Chicken on Rice | $17.50

I can’t resist a cold ginger chicken and this was good. I enjoyed it a lot, they give a good amount of chicken and it’s cute that they give you a free crispy gaugee! I also liked that they give two sauces and include a bed of greens at the bottom of the chicken. Lucky Box Restaurant still holds my heart for the best ginger chicken for now…

Oyster Sauce Chicken on Cake Noodle (+$1.00) | $17.50

To quote myself, wea da noodles? No worries, you can see them peeking through underneath all that chicken. This was Chan’s lunch and I think he enjoyed. They give a container of gravy but it was so little bit in my opinion. The chicken itself was just alright, and actually a bit dry. I wouldn’t get this again. Look, another free crispy gaugee!

Roast Pork | $19.90/lb

One of Chan’s favorite dishes. Nice balanced pieces of pork with the skin on top. It was small kine disappointing because the skin wasn’t all that crispy, and actually a little chewy in my opinion. And we were the first customers there, so you can’t blame it on not being fresh. This is 2 pounds of roast pork.

Char Siu | $19.90/lb

This is the type of char siu I like to see, big juicy slices of char siu. I don’t like thinly sliced char siu. I liked that a lot of the pieces were actually pretty lean but still maintained a soft bite. I would get this again! This is one pound of char siu.

Roast Duck (Half) | $20.00

Look! Another free gaugee! I don’t know when they decide to give a freebie versus not. The roast duck was super good as expected. Would I drive out here just for it? Probably not, but if you are in the area, definitely worth the visit! As you can see, we ordered a lot of food so it was not cheap. I think it was like $125! Ah, but had to try and we had food for DAYS.
