Nature Republic – Peeling Foot Mask

This is the opposite of a food post. Any guys who read this post can go ahead and ignore this post but if you are interested in magic, read on! Hahaha. So I love the new Nature Republic store, it’s another Korean cosmetics company that is now in Hawaii. I think I enjoy their products more than Face Shop for what that’s worth. Anyhow, the store I like to go to is the Ala Moana location, it’s right next to Center Stage…I think it took over the Cathedral store.

The Lemon peeling foot mask instructs you to put on the plastic booties that have a water liquid in it. You leave it on for 60-90 minutes. I left it on for 90 minutes because my feet are BAD. Can you walk around with it? I say yes you can, but I would limit that. I didn’t want to puncture the booties and the liquid in the socks are really like water so easily to come out. After you keep them on for the 60-90 minutes, you rinse it off and go about your life. According to the package, your feet will start to peel in 4 days and continues up to 7 days after use.

I was super skeptical about it, who wouldn’t be?? Why does it start peeling after 4 days? Did they mean I have to use this 4 days straight?? Well the answer is, no you don’t use it for 4 days straight and yes, IT DID START PEELING AFTER 4 DAYS. It’s super weird to witness. My feet really looked the same for the first few days. Then 4th day, boom – peeling! I showed some coworkers the day after and they both said gross so like of course I didn’t wanna take pictures to show. They did say, while they thought it gross…they meant it in a good way cause they were surprised by it too!

It doesn’t hurt at all. Believe me. And underneath the peeling comes some nice baby skin. So it peels around your toes, and the entire bottom of your feet and heels. I really suggest you give it a try, it’s so cool. The bad thing? Your feet are peeling…so yeah…they are peeling, I think you can picture that.

Homemade Korean Goodies

Hey folks. As I write this, I am at home hacking up a storm. I am coughing and my nose is like a dripping faucet. Sorry for the TMI – so while my brain is somewhat lucid, I don’t think my coworkers would appreciate me spreading germs at work. Yesterday was definitely the worst of it, I must have slept all day. I hope that today is the end to the worst of it. Hope you all are doing well! I heard the flu is going around so take care of yourself! Luckily, I think I only have a cold. Anyway, I wanted to share some banchan I got to try from my friend. This stuff was brought straight from Korea (don’t ask me how) from her in-laws. How lucky am I to get to try it? Very!

140310-03Here is the kimchee. Um. If you know me at all, you’ll know that I am a kimchee freak. I couldn’t really eat this. It was already very old and sour…and I think if you eat it, you will have to make it into some kind of pork stirfry or stew. I hope the kimchee is still good, I still have it but haven’t been able to eat it!

140310-02Garlic! Check this out. My friend said that they use specially bought garlic…which are huge…and DELICIOUS. I don’t know how they made this but it had no raw taste! It was very crunchy and delicious. And how did they find garlic without the inner root?? Oh wait, do I just use junk garlic? Hehe…anyone know what this garlic is called in Korean?

Zippy’s Lau Lau

Quick update today. Just wanted to share a plate lunch I got from Zippy’s, they usually serve Hawaiian plates on Fridays. I was pleasantly surprised! It was ono! When I was a kid, I used to always think Zippy’s was such a rip-off. That’s probably because I had less money too…lol. Now while I don’t dine at Zippy’s a lot, I appreciate them being around and serving up consistently good comfort food.

Happy Saturday!

Yes! Thank god it’s the weekend. I had a very busy week so I am very happy to rest today. The past two nights, I’ve been coming home and like sleeping at or before 9. That’s crazy! But that’s how busy work has been. It’s gonna be busy for the next few weeks too but busy is good right? ๐Ÿ™‚ I’ve been slowing down on my eating adventures, I need to pick it back up! Also now gonna try to save money but a meal out once a week ain’t too bad right? Well I was without a car for a week and counted on my cousin to take me to and from work…it was horrible without a car! I guess I really got spoiled cause I used to bus it all over. Anyway, I do enjoy walking and miss it a bit. When you’re driving, you miss out on a lot of details around you. Once, I decided to walk home from work and it let me appreciate so much more about my surroundings! Things that I just drove past when I’m in my car. This picture is an example of that. Last week as I was waiting for my ride, I saw this sprouting out from a wall! It was so pretty that I just had to capture it. I was sad to see it gone a few days later…but was happy I caught it when I did. Have a great weekend folks.

Cha Gor

As I’m typing this entry, I can’t for the life of me remember the English name of this dish. I think the literal translation of the name is Tea Roll but if you look that up online it just pulls up a ton of swirled cream cakes. Ahh…and I don’t really see these in Chinese restaurants. Have any of you had these? They’re so delicious, one of my favorites really. It’s steamed in banana leaves but it’s soooo sticky (because the outer layer is like mochi) that they have to put a lot of oil on the leaves to get it not to stick. Well, it sticks anyway so the oil is kind of useless. Well not useless but not up to par. My family has worked around this in the past by wrapping these things in iceberg lettuce, works great for me. No oil and the entire piece is edible! I should really learn how to make this…

Happy Tuesday

Yay! Here’s to a good week I hope! It is starting off great already, one day short! Just wanted to share a cute picture of my brothers with some Starbucks. Don’t worry, I didn’t start them off caffeine at an early age. It’s just a nice cup of cocoa for the both of them. I would like to look at this picture at work. It’s been awfully cold at work lately. For some odd reason, the AC kicked into full gear a few weeks ago and all of us look ridiculous. I wear like three jackets and started using a heater. Why aren’t we doing anything about it? Because we’ve suffered through many days of NO air conditioning and I would take cold over hot any day. No AC is the worst in our building because we have no windows to open…lol. Anyway, we will see how much longer we will go through the crazy AC. No one has given in yet.

Three Day Weekend!

Hi guys. Things have finally settled just a bit. Things aren’t completely settled yet but I am a lot less stressed than I was before. This was a crazy week so I was totally stressed. I fell asleep at 8:30 last night…lol. Hope you folks will have a great weekend. Not sure how many of you have all three days off, but have a great weekend either way. I’ll try to work on some posts while I have some time! Today, I just wanted to share the Spinach, Mushroom and Garlic pasta I got from Pizza Hut a few weeks back. ย Very good but we all know that the name is deceiving, this ain’t gonna be good for you. ๐Ÿ™‚

Hmm…

Hey everyone. I had a few posts planned for this week but there has been some personal family matters that have come up and taken up my time. Still recovering a bit from things especially since they are not exactly resolved. Hoping for the best as much as I can. Hope you all are doing well out there. Did I tell you folks I twisted my ankle last week? lol…it’s been quite a week. My ankle is healing so I don’t walk with a limp now. Still a little weak walking down stairs and definitely can’t wear heels (no complaints here for that!).

Anyhow, I wish everyone all the best and please be safe out there. I leave you with food because that’s just how I do.

140204-01

140204-02My favorite dish at Taco Bell – Cantina Bowl. It comes on top of cilantro rice…yummy! I don’t see it on the menu anymore but when I ordered it – they said it was available!

Happy New Year!

Happy Chinese New Year to be specific! Well this has been quite a week. I had a nice fall on Wednesday and twisted my ankle. First time ever! So I’ve been limping all around but the swelling has finally gone done. Yay! I hope its fully healed this weekend. I hope you folks had a good week. Did you have your jai today? Or maybe gau? I had quite a bit of jai and I still love it. Wish I could eat it everyday.

Lanikai Beach – Kailua, HI

I went to Lanikai Beach for the first time ever about a week ago. It was an amazing visit. So restful and peaceful! I went out to Kailua super early in the morning to try Boots and Kimo and headed over to the beach right afterwards. I snagged a sweet parking spot in the residential area (not illegally!) and walked over to the beach. This is the cleanest beach I have ever been to. The sand is so fine, it felt great! Through the course of the morning, I found that fine sand wasn’t the best in some regards. I think I still have sand in my bag – it’s so hard to clean out! But I would love to come back here again one day. I stayed about 3 hours.

140118-01<3

140118-02There were very little people on the beach when we arrived. It was great!

140118-03The sun trying to peek through. Great day.
